Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, has urged Ghanaians to refrain from voting for former President John Dramani Mahama, who has expressed intentions to reassess the Free Senior High School policy established by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.
During her participation in the “Kokrokoo” panel discussion on Peace FM, Fatimatu Abubakar reminded the public of John Mahama’s previous stance on the Free SHS initiative.
She recalled Mr. Mahama’s assertion that he would not allocate funds to the Free SHS program even if he possessed the financial resources, and his claim that it would take even developed nations two decades to implement such a policy.
This raises concerns about his capability to effectively manage the program, she noted. The Minister cautioned that if Ghanaians were to entrust the Free SHS initiative to the former President, it would likely face significant challenges.
I believe without a doubt that should former President Mahama get the opportunity, he will collapse the Free SHS. He will ruin the Agenda 111. He will bring a more severe dumsor among many other things that won’t help Ghana.
She highlighted the accomplishments of the current government, asserting that it has provided significant relief to numerous households. Consequently, she urged the electorate to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to further the nation’s development.
Since President Akufo-Addo came from 2017 till date, no student has been sacked from public SHS due to school fees. They know it is free. The schools know it is free; so it is a big win for this government…So, let’s vote for someone who is a problem solver whose vision is to enhance the progress of Ghana.
