President Akufo-Addo has once again directed criticism towards John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), regarding his previous presidency in Ghana.
The President asserted that Mr. Mahama has failed to establish a significant legacy for the Ghanaian people, unlike former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor.
During a community engagement event in the Northern Region as part of his ongoing tour, President Akufo-Addo characterized Mr. Mahama’s administration as being closely associated with the country’s severe power crisis, commonly referred to as “dumsor.”
He noted that the mention of Mahama inevitably brings to mind the period of erratic power supply, which had a detrimental impact on both businesses and households nationwide.
Furthermore, President Akufo-Addo questioned Mr. Mahama’s ambition to reclaim power in the 2024 elections, considering the hardships his administration inflicted upon the nation.
He expressed apprehension that a return to Mahama’s leadership would result in additional challenges and hinder the progress of Ghana. The President emphasized that both Rawlings and Kufuor are remembered for their unique contributions to the nation’s advancement.
In contrast, he contended that Mr. Mahama’s tenure was characterized by economic mismanagement and power instability, which inflicted lasting harm on the economy.
President Akufo-Addo concluded by urging Ghanaians to reject Mahama in the forthcoming general elections, as they did in 2016 and 2020. He encouraged voters to reflect on the future of the country and select a leader capable of fostering progress, rather than repeating previous errors.
When you mention Rawlings, District Assembly comes to mind, When you mention Kufuor, National Health Insurance Scheme comes to mind, When you mention Akufo-Addo, Free SHS comes to mind but when you mention Mahama DUMSOR comes to mind.
