The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has received praise from the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for West Mamprusi Municipality, Arimeyaw Somo Lucky Basintale, for his decision to allocate 5,280 Dual Desk furniture to 66 schools in the municipality.
This initiative was made possible through financial assistance provided by the 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in response to a request made by the Municipal Assembly and the West Mamprusi Municipal Education Oversight Committee (MEOC) to support schools facing challenges in the area.
In response, Vice President Bawumia has urgently instructed the West Mamprusi Municipal Assembly to construct 5,280 dual desks to accommodate approximately 10,000 students across various communities in the municipality. To promote local economic development, the Vice President has emphasized the engagement of local artisans from the municipality to carry out this task.
Additionally, the Ministry of Education has been called upon to assist the remaining schools in the district that are facing furniture challenges. It is worth noting that this is the second occasion in the past three years where the Vice President has provided support for education by supplying furniture. In 2022, he donated 1,000 dual desks to the District Assembly for distribution.
The following schools, totaling 66 in number, will receive the 5,280 dual Desks for their benefit:
