I STAND OPPOSED TO LGBTQ NOW AND WILL STAND OPPOSED TO IT AS PRESIDENT- DR. BAWUMIA

Vice President and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has declared his stands on the issues of LGBTQ by stating categorically that he is against the practice.

Speaking at the Kumasi Central Mosque, he noted that his faith stares angrily upon the practice of homosexuality and as such he is can’t support the practice of same sex and marriage. He mentioned that his stands on the issue situates with the position of his religious faith which is against the practice of same-sex and same-sex marriage.

On the issues of LGBTG, first of all, it is important to note that our cultural and societal norms and values as Ghanaians frown on the practice of homosexuality. Furthermore, as a Muslim, my view on this matter aligns with the position of my religious faith.

Dr. Bawumia stated that the Holy Book of Islam do not take kindly to such practices and he believes Christian religion and the Holy Bible also glares at the practice of same-sex marriage and such he cannot aid in the practice.

The Holy Quran is replete with the verses frowning on LGBTQ acts, including same-sex marriages., Therefore, I personally cannot support that which my religion, and indeed, all the major religions in Ghana as well as our societal norms and values, clearly and unequivocably forbid.

Additionally he declared categorically that he is against the practice now and he will be against it even as President of the country.

All the major religious traditions in Ghana (Christianity and Islam) are opposed to this practice and i stand opposed to it now and will stand opposed to its as President, Insha Allah.

He noted that his faith and religion do not take kindly to the practice of same-sex marriage and he believes the Ghanaian cultural practices also glares upon the practice and such he can never be in support of homosexuality.

My faith is therefore very strictly against the practice of homosexuality, no ifs or buts, no shades of grey. It is important to note that our cultural and societal norms and values as Ghanaians frown on the practice of homosexuality.
