NAA TORSHIE MOBILIZES NPP SUPPORT FOR BAWUMIA/NAPO PARTNERSHIP

Irene Naa Torshie Addo-Lartey, Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund and a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called upon the party to unite in support of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

In response to Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s selection as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate for the upcoming December 7 elections, Irene Naa Torshie Addo-Lartey extended congratulations to Napo, as he is fondly known. She praised his extensive political experience, unwavering dedication, and commendable attributes over many years in politics.

Matthew, as we call him, Napo, is hardworking, a fighter, and a Member of Parliament with about 16 years of experience who has stood in the gap with us [NPP] until now. Before then, he was involved in student politics at the KNUST, SRC,

He [Napo] is not just anybody but an astute politician and a goal-getter. The flagbearer Dr. Bawumia is already doing great, and Dr. Opoku Prempeh will surely complement him,

Madam Addo-Lartey added.

The NPP National Executive Council (NEC) unanimously endorsed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh on Thursday, July 4, 2024, following a decisive meeting to affirm the constitutional mandate under Article 13(3)(1) of the NPP Constitution. This provision empowers the party’s presidential candidate, in consultation with the National Council, to nominate a vice presidential candidate.

Naa Torshie urged supporters within the party to unite behind the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh ticket in order to secure victory in the general election on December 7, 2024.

I want to emphasize the importance of rallying behind the Bawumia-Opoku Prempeh ticket for the upcoming election. In my view, the future of our country’s development and progress lies squarely with the NPP. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is an invaluable asset to our party, and it’s crucial that we not only support the party but also the individuals leading it,

Madam Addo-Lartey remarked. Irene Naa Torshie Addo also addressed those who had speculated she might be chosen as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate.

To those who had hoped I would be selected as the running mate, I urge you to respect the party’s decision and redouble our efforts to maintain our hold on power,

she concluded.
