NANA AKOMEA RESPONDS TO BBC INTERVIEW, CLAIMS MAHAMA LACKS INTEGRITY

Nana Akomea has criticized former President John Dramani Mahama following his interview on the BBC.

During the interview, Mahama, the presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress, addressed several issues, including the anti-gay bill and his 24-hour economy policy, among others.

It’s against our culture; I mean African culture. It’s against our religious faith, Muslim and Christian and all that but I think that we must look at the bill and the President must indicate what he finds wrong with that bill and send the bill back to Parliament or alternatively he must send it to the Council of State and get the Council of State’s advice

When asked if he would sign the anti-LGBTQ bill into law if he became President, Mr. Mahama replied, “It depends on what is in the bill.”

Speaking on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Nana Akomea, the Deputy Chairman of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign, criticized Mahama for his double standards.

Focusing on Mahama’s response to the bill, Nana Akomea found it absurd that Mahama and his NDC party pressured President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sign the bill, yet Mahama himself couldn’t take a clear stance on whether he would sign it if he were in office.

According to Nana Akomea, “Mahama lacks integrity” and called the former President’s stance “hypocritical.”

Nana Akomea further referred to various comments and actions by John Mahama, such as criticizing Nana Addo’s Free SHS policy and the provision of computers to students, among other things.
