Henry Nana Boakye, the National Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s presidential candidate, is prepared to participate in a presidential debate against John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Nana B, Dr. Bawumia is open to debating even if Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the NDC, moderates the debate, and regardless of whether it takes place at the NDC’s headquarters or Mahama’s office.

He believes Dr. Bawumia’s willingness to debate reflects his confidence in discussing crucial issues and policies directly with Mahama. This statement follows criticism from the Mahama 2024 Campaign regarding the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) announcement of a presidential debate for the 2024 elections, citing concerns over the invitation process that they deemed biased towards the NPP.
