Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), made history in Bekwai by visiting the constituency twice in four days.
His team claims this notable action reflects his respect for the chiefs and residents of Bekwai.
On September 21, 2024, Dr. Opoku Prempeh visited the Amoafo and Bekwai traditional councils as his first stop. Within four days, he also paid respects to the paramount chief and the people of the Kokofu traditional council.
These visits were intended to introduce himself as the NPP running mate for the 2024 elections, seek blessings and guidance, and share Dr. Bawumia and the NPP’s message of hope and possibilities with the chiefs and residents of Bekwai.
In his address, Dr. Opoku Prempeh committed to visiting all seven paramount chiefs in the constituency before the December 7 elections. He urged the chiefs to motivate their subjects to keep the NPP in power, emphasizing the advantages of Free SHS and other developmental initiatives.
The running mate also backed Lawyer Ralph Poku-Adusei as the best candidate to succeed Mr. Joseph Osei Owusu (Joe Wise) and warned against supporting independent candidates that could jeopardize the party’s interests.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh highlighted Bekwai’s unique status in the Ashanti region, noting it has seven paramount chiefs and nine Abrempong loyal to the Golden Stool. He pledged to ensure the NPP achieves a decisive victory in both the presidential and parliamentary elections.
This historic campaign has energized NPP executives, supporters, and constituents, indicating strong momentum for the party in the upcoming elections.
