Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed approval of the selection of Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate, describing it as a strong choice.
Dr. Bawumia noted that he initially joined the government with a background in economics and banking. As the NPP’s flagbearer, he sought a running mate with a legislative background to complement the party’s ticket.
When selecting my vice-presidential candidate, I looked for someone who could help me win the election. I was an academic and a banker when I came into government as vice president. I sought someone with experience from the legislative branch to provide complementarity
Dr. Bawumia said. The NPP presidential candidate stated this during the introduction of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as his running mate for the upcoming December elections.
When I surveyed the entire country, my focus settled on the Ashanti region, where I found Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh,
stated the vice president. He emphasized Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s deep understanding of governance and his reputation as a problem solver.
I’ve known him for 16 years and hold him in high esteem. He’s a problem solver, a visionary thinker, and we share a common vision. I am confident that with him as my vice president, we can collaborate to deliver innovative solutions for Ghana,
he continued. Dr. Bawumia expressed unwavering confidence in Dr. Opoku Prempeh, highlighting that their candidacy embodies youth, experience, innovation, and forward-thinking.
We present this to the people of Ghana to lead our nation into the next generation,
he concluded.
