The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has expressed apprehension regarding the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) choice to forgo a peace declaration before the general elections scheduled for December 7.
In an interview with Joy News’ current affairs program, PM Express, on August 14, 2024, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the NDC, stated that his leadership “will not sign a peace declaration ahead of elections.”
The NPP has characterized the NDC’s position as “concerning.” They have urged the National Peace Council to respond promptly to this decision.
A statement issued by the NPP and signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodia Frimpong, implies that the NDC is “beating the drums of war” and “preparing their supporters to contest the results of the 2024 general elections, anticipating their unavoidable defeat.”
