Divine Otoo Agorhom, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has declared that the 2024 elections will be an easy win for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He attributes this confidence to the selection of John Mahama as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, which he sees as a critical error by the opposition.
Agorhom observed that the NDC’s initial overconfidence has been shaken by the positive reception of the NPP’s campaign. He highlighted that economic hardships have given the NDC a misguided sense of optimism, but the dynamics have changed as Dr. Bawumia’s campaign gains traction among Ghanaians.
Speaking on Class FM, Agorhom stated,
“Some six months ago, the posture of the NDC clearly demonstrated a party seeing itself having won the elections and were only waiting for time.”
However, he believes the NPP’s strong campaign presence has caused the NDC to “revise their notes.”
Agorhom confidently described John Mahama as a “cool chop” for the NPP, asserting that Ghanaians are ready for a change in leadership after rejecting Mahama in previous elections. He emphasized that despite the current economic challenges, the NPP is dedicated to addressing the issues and leading Ghana towards a better future.
“The very day the NDC elected His Excellency John Mahama, I said, ‘Oh’, we’ll win these elections,”
Agorhom remarked, expressing his belief in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to secure a decisive victory and bring positive change to the nation.
