NPP CONDEMNS NDC FOR ‘DEROGATORY REMARKS’ AGAINST BAWUMIA

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for what it calls a “troubling trend” of derogatory remarks against their presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

In a statement issued by National Nasara Coordinator Abdul Aziz Haruna Futa, the NPP expressed “deep disappointment” over comments made by Joyce Mogtari Bawa, aide to John Mahama, and Saeed Sinari. The party argues that these remarks “diminish the discourse” and “lack constructive purpose.”

The statement condemned the reference to Dr. Bawumia as speaking “like a Makaranta teacher,” labeling it as disrespectful and indicative of a lack of appreciation for education and the dignity of educators.

The NPP also criticized “baseless allegations” about Dr. Bawumia’s dietary choices, describing them as “misleading” and “disrespectful.”

Despite being a respected economist and scholar, Dr. Bawumia has faced criticism from the NDC, including accusations of being “out of touch” with ordinary Ghanaians. The NPP contends that such attacks are “unbecoming” and “lack factual basis.”

The statement concludes with a call for the NDC to reconsider their approach and to remember that the Ghanaian electorate deserves better. This comes amid a heated political campaign season, with both parties exchanging barbs over policies and personal attacks.
