NPP HAS A BETTER YOUTH-CENTERED APPROACH TO DEVELOPMENT – DR. BAWUMIA

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, emphasizes that the NPP adopts a youth-centered approach to development that is more sustainable.

During his campaign in the Eastern Region, Dr. Bawumiah spoke at a Youth Connect Town Hall meeting in Koforidua. He emphasized that the free TVET and free SHS programs were implemented to enhance the quality of education and foster skills development. Dr. Bawumiah further highlighted the significance of skills development in driving national progress.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiah has emphasized that the NPP government has implemented additional assistance programs for local businesses to offer financial support to small-scale enterprises.

He mentioned that the Youth Employment Agency’s Business Employment Assistance Program is currently implementing a program to assist business owners in hiring a maximum of two individuals at the government’s expense. The objective of this initiative is to aid the private sector in generating employment opportunities for the abundant youth population in the country.

Furthermore, the Ghana Enterprise Agency has been granted a substantial amount of GH¢600 million to provide support to startup businesses in the nation. As per Dr. Bawumiah, his proposed tax regime policy, which includes a tax amnesty and the implementation of a flat tax system starting from the year 2025, aims to alleviate the burden on businessmen and establish a comprehensive tax-based system that includes everyone.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumiah has declared that Ghana is on the path to modernization similar to that of the Western world during his tenure. He has outlined plans to implement a credit scoring system that will allow every Ghanaian with a Ghana card to access funds for business or personal use, provided they meet the creditworthiness criteria based on their income.

Furthermore, Ghana has taken the lead in Africa by introducing the Mobile Money interoperability system, enabling seamless mobile money transfers across different networks and between banks and mobile money platforms. This digital initiative has significantly improved the ease of conducting business transactions in Ghana.

Dr. Bawumiah has also highlighted the upcoming convenience in passport renewal procedures, emphasizing the elimination of bureaucratic hurdles. The new online renewal process will require applicants to enter their Ghana card number, and GPS address, and pay the necessary service fee. Renewed passports will then be delivered to the applicants at their specified GPS location.

Moreover, the integration of various national identity systems such as the Ghana Card number, TIN, SSNIT, and National Health Insurance card is expected to simplify life for Ghanaians. Dr. Bawumiah has assured the public of his commitment to implementing bold and effective solutions that will positively impact Ghana’s future.
