The NPP’s National Council officially endorsed the Energy Minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia South on Friday, July 5. The decision has been widely praised by key figures in the party, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who has shown confidence in the duo’s ability to lead the party to victory in the upcoming elections.
The announcement of the NPP’s running mate has sparked mixed reactions, with some individuals, including certain NPP members, expressing opposition to the decision. Nonetheless, the majority of NPP supporters believe that NAPO’s selection is a positive move for the party.
The New Patriotic Party has strongly defended NAPO against criticisms of his perceived arrogance. In light of the criticism, some stakeholders have recommended that NAPO should use prepared scripts for his future public appearances to better manage his messaging and avoid any potential missteps.
NAPO is scheduled to be introduced to His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at Manhyia. Following this, he will be honored with a grand durbar at the Jubilee Park, where he will receive a warm welcome and acceptance from NPP members and sympathizers. With the nomination of the Manhyia South lawmaker as the running mate, the New Patriotic Party has officially opened nominations for the Manhyia South constituency.
The party has committed to ensuring a transparent and equitable electoral procedure and has advised potential candidates to be cautious with their statements, highlighting that this is an internal matter.
