The Okuapemhene, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, has commended Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, commonly known as NAPO, for his humility and has urged Ghanaians to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming general elections. Speaking from his residence in Akropong, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III emphasized the importance of the NPP flagbearer and his running mate seeking blessings from traditional and religious leaders before beginning their political campaigns.
I know you are humble, given your royal background. What we seek from you is straightforwardness and transparency in all your dealings,
the Okuapemhene remarked. He stressed the need to build on the achievements of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration, suggesting that a Bawumia/Napo leadership would further solidify the foundations laid by the current government. The Okuapemhene urged Dr. Prempeh to support Dr. Bawumia diligently to ensure their success.
Reflecting on President Akufo-Addo’s accomplishments, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, who is from the Okuapem royal lineage, highlighted the need to promote these achievements to the public. He tasked Dr. Prempeh and his team with showcasing the administration’s successes to gain broad support for the NPP in the upcoming elections. The traditional leader also praised Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Prempeh for integrating chieftaincy and religious leadership into the nation’s development agenda. He acknowledged Dr. Prempeh’s recognition of traditional rulers’ roles in the struggle for independence and the establishment of the UP tradition.
Congratulating Dr. Prempeh on his appointment as the NPP’s running mate, the Okuapemhene attributed this achievement to his hard work and dedication to the party and the nation. He expressed confidence in Dr. Prempeh’s ability to support Dr. Bawumia in securing victory for the NPP.
In his response, Dr. Prempeh acknowledged the significant contributions of chiefs to the nation’s history, especially during the fight for independence. He assured traditional leaders that, if elected, the NPP would ensure their proper place in the nation’s development.
Dr. Prempeh also introduced the parliamentary candidates for Akuapem South, Eric Apeadu Yeboah; Akuapem North, Samuel Awuku; and Okere, Daniel Nana Addo Kenneth, seeking the Okuapemhene’s support for these candidates.
