After decades of struggling for education, Wiaboman witnesses a transformative change as the First Lady steps in, improving lives and urging support to maintain the progress.
On Friday, 29 November, First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo officially handed over a basic school, built through her Rebecca Foundation, to the people of Wiaboman in the Weija Gbawe municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
Prior to the school’s construction, the community lacked a primary school, forcing children to endure long walks to neighboring communities for their education.
This journey was difficult for many, leading to high dropout rates and significant literacy gaps.
After visiting the community in 2020, Akufo-Addo was determined to address the issue, leading to the construction of the primary school to serve Wiaboman.
During the school’s inauguration, the First Lady emphasized that providing a strong educational foundation is not only the government’s responsibility but a collective one.
She urged the residents to vote for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on December 7 to ensure the continuation of development and progress.
Also speaking at the event, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, the NPP parliamentary candidate for the Weija Gbawe constituency, highlighted ongoing projects in the area, including improvements in electricity, water supply, sea defense, and a newly established health facility, all provided by the NPP.
He seized the moment to encourage residents to support the NPP in the upcoming elections for sustained progress.
In a separate engagement at the Botianor Ngleshie Amanfrom constituency, the NPP parliamentary candidate for the area, Sylvester Tetteh, endorsed NPP flagbearer Mahamudu Bawumia as Ghana’s next president. He stressed the importance of having a leader who will remain accountable to the nation even beyond their first term in office.
