RECONSTRUCTION OF APPIATSE COMMUNITY: AHIAGBAH PRAISES AKUFFO-ADDO AND DR. BAWUMIA

Mr Richard Ahiagbah, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called upon the citizens of Ghana to support Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

He emphasized that if Dr Bawumia assumes the presidency, he will be able to accomplish even more for the people of Ghana, just as the government has done for the Appiatse community.

He pointed out that the redevelopment of Appiatse, a community in the Prestea-Huni Valley District of the Western Region, showcases the commitment that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government has towards the citizens of Ghana.

Mr. Ahiagbah urged Ghanaians to acknowledge the reconstruction efforts and trust in Akufo-Addo’s dedication. He also encouraged support for Bawumia to continue driving development in Ghana on his X platform.

Appiatse reconstruction, just look at it! Akufo-Addo cares. Vote for Bawumia to do even more for Ghana.

Two years following the tragic event that devastated Appiatse, the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has inaugurated and handed over a 124-unit housing project that symbolizes the official resettlement of the community’s residents. The newly constructed buildings, which were inaugurated by the Vice President on Thursday, May 2, 2024, consist of one-bedroom to seven-bedroom units, equipped with improved amenities such as a market, six-unit classroom and kindergarten blocks, internal roads, water and electricity supply, a drainage system, and a water storage system.

Speaking to a gathering of residents and chiefs from Appiatse and neighboring communities, Dr. Bawumia first honored those who lost their lives in the tragedy and offered words of solace to their families. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia highlighted that the completion of Phase II of the Appiatse Reconstruction Project reflects the resilience, compassion, and unwavering spirit of the people of Appiatse and the nation as a whole.

He commended President Akufo-Addo for his unwavering dedication and commitment to ensuring that the residents of Appiatse are relocated to spacious, modern, and eco-friendly housing units that ensure their peace and development. Dr. Bawumia elaborated on the President’s personal involvement and genuine interest in the Appiatse Reconstruction Project, stating that

President Akufo-Addo was the first to contribute to the Appiatse Support Fund, demonstrating his compassion and commitment to the community’s reconstruction.

Furthermore, he described the President act in aiding the victims as an altruistic and empathetic gesture.

President Akufo-Addo directed that five million dollars out of the six million dollars administrative fine imposed on the company responsible for the explosion be allocated to the Appiatse Support Fund to aid the victims and the community’s rebuilding efforts. Such a selfless and compassionate act.
