Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s digitization efforts have been warmly embraced by the rural communities of Atudrobesa, Rubi, and neighboring villages in the Tano North constituency of the Ahafo Region.
At the inauguration of a new telephony facility in the area, residents expressed their excitement to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), stating they were thrilled to finally be part of the digital world. Previously, they were isolated, unable to communicate or stay connected with loved ones, both locally and abroad, due to poor telecommunication services.
Thanks to Dr. Bawumia’s support and the efforts of Dr. Freda Prempeh, the Member of Parliament for Tano North, the telephony facility was established to further advance the digitization drive in the region.
The network is now clear, and we no longer face difficulties connecting to the internet. Everyone is pleased to be able to reach their loved ones outside with ease
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, the government, and our MP through you, and let them know we will always be thankful for resolving the poor telecommunication and internet networks in our area
The workers, who wished to remain anonymous, praised the NPP government and the MP for the development brought to the area, including the CHPS compound and access to potable drinking water.
Dr. Prempeh noted that the facility has provided reliable network and internet connectivity to three major communities and several villages in the region.
With the enhanced network, the MP encouraged teachers, students, and pupils to use their mobile phones productively for learning and reduce excessive use of social media.
Dr. Prempeh later commissioned 10 mechanized boreholes she had installed in various communities within the constituency, and reassured the residents of her dedication to addressing their immediate development needs before her tenure in parliament ends in 2025.
