TECH AND INNOVATION POLICIES

Under the Great Speech, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia outline several policies and initiatives designed and tailored to tackle all the sectors in the country. These Bold Solutions will seek to address the issues and problems in the country serving as lasting Panacea Ghanaians have been waiting for. Under the Technology and Innovation sector, Dr. Bawumia outlined these three unique initiatives to tackle the issues affecting the sector.

1.Electronic and faceless audits by GRA

This initiative seeks to reduce the interface between taxpayers and tax officials. The scheme is aimed at reducing the compliance burden of taxpayers and making the tax system more efficient and transparent. Under this scheme, all assessment proceedings will be conducted electronically without any physical interface between the taxpayer and the tax official. The taxpayer will be required to submit the required documents and information online. The tax official then reviews the documents and information and passes the assessment order electronically. This policy is a step in the right direction to achieve ease of doing business and bringing in more transparency and certainty in tax issues.

2.Digitalize land titling and transfer

Computerization land title and transfer can reduce the cost associated with keeping the property register up to date, eliminate informal side payments that have traditionally been associated with property registration, and improve third party access to registry information. These could potentially increase the volume of registered land transactions, reduce the level of informality, and thus improve registry comprehensiveness.

3.Make it easy for Ghanaians to obtain passports, under my government, any Ghana card holder will only have to pay a fee for a passport.

This policy will simplify the access of obtaining passport. This policy seeks to give any Ghana card holder  the easy way of obtaining a passport by just paying for your passport fee and you will have one.
