Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP, has expressed strong disapproval of the opposition NDC, characterizing their recent actions as a significant affront to the Ghanaian populace.
This criticism follows the NDC’s decision to unveil a “lawless” vigilante group on the same day that the nation was engaged in the launch of a national peace campaign in preparation for the 2024 elections.
During a community engagement event in Duadaso, located in the Jaman North Constituency of the Bono Region, on Monday, November 4, 2024, Dr. Prempeh, as part of his campaign activities, emphasized the importance of choosing a political party that prioritizes peace. He did not hold back in his condemnation of the NDC’s behavior.
Whilst Political Leaders and Eminent Christian and Muslim Clergy were all in Accra yesterday (Sunday) launching the National Peace Campaign ahead of the 2024 elections, our opponents (the NDC) were in Kumasi on the same day launching a lawless Vigilante Group to cause mayhem during the elections. Vote wisely!
The NDC does not care about development and the welfare of the ordinary Ghanaian. They only want your vote and if that means plunging this country into civil war so that they can win elections, they wouldn’t mind.
NAPO, as he is commonly known, expressed his disappointment regarding the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) establishment of a vigilante group named “Ashanti Region Azorka Boys” in anticipation of the 2024 elections.
This development is particularly concerning given the recent enactment of the anti-vigilante law, which prohibits all such groups and prescribes stringent penalties for violators.
Furthermore, NAPO criticized the NDC’s presidential candidate, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, who has been noted for his claims about the NDC’s revolutionary heritage and his assertion that no other political party can rival the NDC in terms of inciting violence.
He reassured John Mahama that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is committed to peace and will engage in a contest of ideas rather than resorting to violence, as the NDC has suggested.
During his campaign visits to the Jaman North and South Constituencies in the Bono Region, the Running Mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was joined by Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Alfred Tua Yeboah, Bono Regional Minister, Justina Owusu Banahene, and the Bono Regional Chairman of the Party, Kwame Baffoe Abronye.
