THE HOSPITAL NETWORK HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED – DR. BAWUMIA

Ghana is presently engaged in the process of connecting all hospitals and has initiated the digitalization of patient records nationwide, as stated by Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia.

This advancement is poised to transform the healthcare system, improving efficiency, accessibility, and patient care throughout the nation, according to Dr. Bawumia.

Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who also serves as the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, made this announcement while on his tour of the Upper West Region, where he seized the opportunity to update residents on his accomplishments as vice-president and his vision for Ghana should he assume the presidency.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the progress made in digital healthcare infrastructure.

We’ve started and we’ve completed, the networking of all hospitals.

The implementation of digital patient records tackles enduring issues within the healthcare system, including the burdensome and unreliable nature of paper-based record-keeping.

When you have problems finding your file, it means your medical history is lost.

The lack of efficiency frequently results in treatment delays and compromised patient care. Through the digitization of records, patients’ medical histories can be easily accessed, guaranteeing prompt and precise diagnosis and treatment.

Additionally, the interconnectedness of hospitals promotes smooth coordination and consistent care delivery among various healthcare establishments.

Today, if they refer you from one regional hospital or from Jirapa District Hospital to Korle Bu, you no longer need your file. You just need your ID number. Once you get to Korle Bu, they will put your ID number in, and all your medical records will come up.

This system eradicates the necessity for patients to manually transport their medical records, thereby decreasing wait times and enhancing the overall patient satisfaction.

The project involves connecting all teaching hospitals, regional hospitals, and district hospitals, with intentions to expand to every hospital and community health center by the upcoming year.
