Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for the 2024 elections, has urged students at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), to support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the forthcoming presidential elections.
Speaking to a full auditorium on campus, Dr. Opoku Prempeh underscored Dr. Bawumia’s exceptional vision for Ghana, particularly in fostering digital innovation and economic advancement.
The former Minister of Education reminded the students of the government’s accomplishments under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He pointed out significant reforms, including the implementation of Free Senior High School (Free SHS), the digitization of public services, and advancements in infrastructure development.
Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated that he is the leader Ghana needs to navigate the complexities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. His track record in digitalizing our economy, from mobile money interoperability to digitized property addressing, shows his ability to lead us into a modern, progressive era.
He compared this with the administration of former President John Dramani Mahama, characterizing his time in office as marked by economic mismanagement and inconsistent policy changes.
Ghanaians have experienced the leadership of John Mahama, and the verdict is clear—his record does not merit another chance. Under his administration, we faced unprecedented power outages, massive unemployment, and failed promises. Ghana cannot afford to go back.
Dr. Prempeh emphasized the importance of youth engagement in the upcoming 2024 elections, encouraging the students to ensure their voices are recognized by participating in large numbers at the polls.
The future of this country lies in your hands. It is your duty to vote for progress and innovation. Dr. Bawumia is the leader who will create opportunities for you and future generations.
Students present demonstrated considerable enthusiasm, with many expressing their commitment to supporting the NPP. Nana Akua Mensah, a third-year student in Business Administration, stated, “Dr. Prempeh’s presentation was truly inspiring.
It is evident that the NPP prioritizes the interests of students and young individuals.” The visit to UPSA is part of a larger initiative aimed at rallying youth support for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP in the upcoming December 2024 elections.
Dr. Opoku Prempeh encouraged the students to disseminate messages of hope and transformation within their communities, assuring them that the NPP is dedicated to creating a brighter future for all Ghanaians.
