WE ARE TARGETING 75% OF VOTE IN THE ASHANTI REGION – NANA AKOMEA

Nana Akomea, the Vice Chairman of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has revealed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) aims to secure 75 percent of the votes in the Ashanti region.

During an appearance on Wednesday’s edition of GH Today on GHOne TV with Lantam Papanko, Nana Akomea emphasized the ongoing campaign efforts by the NPP’s flag bearer, Dr. Bawumia, within the party’s stronghold of the Ashanti region.

Dr. Bawumia is currently engaged in a fifteen-day campaign across various constituencies in the Ashanti region, promoting his policies to enhance voter turnout.

In light of these efforts, the Vice Chairman indicated that the campaign team is focused on achieving the targeted percentage of votes from this region.

We are targeting 75 percent votes from the Ashanti region, we targeted the same in 2016 and we won, so if we get 75 percent votes in the Ashanti region, we will win the election.

He stated that Dr. Bawumia is the sole presidential candidate conducting a steady campaign, while he criticized John Mahama for his inconsistent approach.

Regarding the recent issues within the Judiciary, he voiced his apprehension about the diminished confidence in Ghana’s judicial system, linking it to the widespread belief that justice is often delayed.

Furthermore, he noted that the public’s faith in the judiciary continues to be weak, primarily due to the perceived absence of prompt justice.

Confidence in the judiciary has always been low because people don’t see justice is available to them.

He referenced several research studies, notably the recent “Mo Ibrahim” report and Anas’ investigation into the judiciary, both of which have consistently indicated a decrease in public trust in the judiciary over the last ten years. Akomea’s remarks emphasize the persistent difficulties confronting the Ghanaian judiciary in sustaining public confidence.
