WE CREATED 2.1 MILLION JOBS, OUTPACING ANY GOVERNMENT – DR. BAWUMIA

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President and presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has recognized that although the NPP government has successfully generated a substantial number of jobs over the last seven and a half years, there remains a pressing need for enhanced efforts to create additional employment opportunities, especially for the youth of the nation.

He noted that since taking office in 2017, the government has facilitated the creation of 2.1 million jobs, a record that surpasses that of any prior administration. Nevertheless, Dr. Bawumia underscored the necessity for continued action to expand job opportunities further.

If you look at jobs, we have created 2.1 million jobs. It is still not enough, but it is more than any government in the history of the Fourth Republic. We have to do more to create more job opportunities for the youth.

In pursuit of this objective, Dr. Bawumia delineated a series of youth-focused policies that his administration intends to implement, all aimed at generating employment opportunities.

Among these initiatives, Dr. Bawumia proposed the establishment of a digital hub in Ghana, which is expected to serve as a catalyst for job creation.

He underscored his dedication to training one million young individuals in information and communication technology (ICT), targeting both senior high school graduates and school dropouts, to equip them with the necessary skills for digital employment, both domestically and internationally.

In addition to enhancing digital competencies, Dr. Bawumia disclosed that his government will provide incentives to the private sector to stimulate job creation.

This strategy will encompass the introduction of a new tax regime that is conducive to business, which includes tax amnesty and a flat tax rate designed to foster growth and employment opportunities.

Moreover, Dr. Bawumia emphasized his administration’s commitment to investing in technical and vocational education, a sector that has experienced notable advancements under the Akufo-Addo government over the last seven years. He articulated that this investment will remain vital in fostering sustainable employment for the youth.
