WE HAVE DONE MORE ON TVET THAN ANY OTHER GOVERNMENT – DR. BAWUMIA

Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has indicated that no government in the history of Ghana can boast of investing more in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Speaking at the launch of his Ghana Smart Schools Project which took place on Monday 25th March 2024 at the Accra International Conference Center, he revealed that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration has invested more in TVET as compared to the past governments. He indicated that a careful look at the investment on TVET by previous governments shows there is little to write home about.

‘’TVET was an area that if you look historically, many governments paid lip service to. I think it’s very clear that we have done more in TVET in terms of investment than any other government in the 4th Republic”.

According to Dr. Bawumia revamping TVET has really make it unwavering which goes a long way to affirm the fact that TVET now has over 150,000 students. He noted that the project is astonishing.

TVET is becoming aspirational, and the project is remarkable. The policy in that area has over 150,000 students’’.

Commenting on his digitization policies with regards to the Ghana Smart Schools Project he revealed that he is elevated, and that he believes Ghana is dominant in terms of digitalization in Africa. He mentioned further that the project will help students by equipping them with knowledge about digitalization and putting them on the same level with students from the developed countries.

‘’I am really excited with this project. Ghana is leading Africa in digitalization. What is very important is that we are providing these tools, these opportunities for all of you to fully participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution to get into a two different century learning environment and to do well compared to your peers in the advance countries’’.

The Ghana Smart Schools Project is designed to equip students under the free SHS policy with the essential technological skills which falls in line with the government’s aim and vision with regards to advancing education through technology.
