WE HAVE ELIMINATED GHOST WORKERS AT THE CONTROLLER AND ACCOUNTANT GENERAL OFFICE USING THE GHANA CARD – DR. BAWUMIA

Vice President and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has indicated that with the help of the Ghana Card, ghost workers at the Controller and Account General office have been eliminated.

Speaking at the launch of the LEADing Justice initiative by Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo yesterday, Dr. Bawumia, emphasized on the importance of digitalization and how it play a vital role in transforming and developing the country. He noted that digitalization is the way to eradicate corruption in this country.

Dr. Bawumia disclosed that the adoption of digitalization as a means of transforming and developing the country is of great significance as it has the tendency to aid the country in achieving a lot, citing the eradication of ghost workers from the office of the Controller and Accountant General office using the Ghana as one of the achievements of the Card.

Through Digitalization we have seen that you can deal with corruption. We have eliminated ghost workers at the office of the Controller and Accountant General office just by using the Ghana Cards because the ghost don’t have finger prints.

He stressed further that digitalizing Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and the National Service Secretariat has saved the country millions of cedis as the initiative has aided in eradicating ghost pensioners and ghost workers from these institutions.

Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has saved 480 million by eliminating 29,000 ghost pensioners with the National Service Secretariat eliminating 44,000 ghost workers, saving the country over 356 million.
