The Chief of the Abofour Zongo community, located in the Offinso North Constituency, has remarked that Muslims and individuals from Northern backgrounds are likely to support the ruling New Patriotic Party in the upcoming elections.
This support is attributed to the implementation of the Free Senior High School initiative and other social programs introduced by the government.
In a statement delivered by his Spokesperson, Alhaji Ali Cissey, the Muslim leader emphasized that the choice to vote for the Vice President and NPP presidential candidate, His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, is not solely based on his Muslim faith or Northern heritage.
Rather, it is a recognition of the government’s efforts to alleviate the social challenges they face, particularly concerning the education of their children.
Today, our children are all in school; thanks to Free SHS. Before then our youth were involved in all forms of social vices because of lack of education but today the situation has changed. We no longer think about that because our children have access to decent education.
During a campaign tour to the community led by the Second Lady, Her Excellency Hajia Samira Bawumia, the Zongo Chief spoke to a large audience. He praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the Vice President, expressing his commitment and that of his constituents to support Dr. Bawumia and the ruling party at the polls.
We are not voting for Dr. Bawumia because he is a Muslim, no, far from that. We shall reward him because this government has relieved many of us from one of our biggest headaches which was to do with the future of our children. We are grateful to the NPP government.
The Second Lady, Hajia Samira Bawumia, emphasized that the forthcoming administration of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by His Excellency Dr. Alhaji Mahamadu Bawumia, will propel the nation into a new era of development by equipping the youth with essential employable skills and providing them with job opportunities.
She noted that the Vice President has established a robust foundation through the digitalization initiative, which is crucial for the effective advancement of the country’s socio-economic landscape.
Consequently, she urged the populace to support the government, warning that any shift in leadership could hinder the nation’s progress. The Second Lady is currently engaged in a nine-day campaign tour across various constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
Accompanying her on this tour are several prominent party figures, including the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.
