SAVANNA REGION NPP CHAIR EXPRESSES GRATITUDE TO DR. BAWUMIA

The Savannah Regional Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) have expressed deep gratitude to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for what they describe as inspiring people to return home and follow the Vice President’s benevolent actions.

The Regional Chairman of the NPP, Professor Iddrisu Sulemana, speaking on behalf of the group, emphasized that the transformation of the second Jakpa Palace into an ultra-modern structure by the NPP Flagbearer was a significant catalyst. This initiative sparked competition, leading to the Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, laying the foundation for a multipurpose Ndewura Jakpa Palace in Damongo. Professor Kalamonia, representing the group, made a statement suggesting that Dr. Bawumia paved the way for others to follow.

So, if Dr. Bawumia hasn’t renovated this palace, others wouldn’t have seen the need to come and do what they are now doing or what? But we thank the Vice President for waking them up to come and want to construct a multipurpose palace.

He highlighted missed opportunities during former President John Mahama’s tenure, where efforts to build a palace for Yagbon had faltered until now.

Various Presidents and Yagbonwuras have come and gone, from Yagbonwura Bawa Doshie and many others from 2000 to 2016.During President J. A. Kufuor’s era, District Chief Executives (DCEs) pooled funds to construct the second palace later renovated by Dr. Bawumia. However, subsequent administrations, including that of late President Atta-Mills and Vice President John Mahama, did not follow suit.

Professor Kalamonia stressed that they should have emulated the example set by J. A. Kufuor and his DCEs by either constructing a new palace or renovating the existing one. It took the government of Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia to initiate the restructuring and renovation into an ultra-modern design.

NPP Executives, however, lauded the spirit of competition for developing Yagbon, adding that it’s good for development because having too much meat in the soup doesn’t spoil it but benefits the consumer.

The entire palace, including all rooms, is equipped with ten air-conditioners: six in the main hall and four in each of the two rooms and halls. Additionally, the entire interior of the building is finished with POP and tinted window glasses, providing comfort for the King.

However, it has been nearly three months since the project was completed and handed over to the King, who has not yet moved in.
