The Chief of the Ewe Community in Ashaiman, Greater Accra Region, Torgbui Aheto Exa III, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Vice President and NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for his historic visit to the community.
During his campaign tour of the Ashaiman Constituency, Dr. Bawumia made a courtesy visit to the Ashaiman Ewe Chiefs and elders, where he listened to their concerns and shared his vision and policies for the country.
Welcoming Dr. Bawumia to the palace, Togbe expressed deep appreciation, noting that this visit was unprecedented.
This is the first time any senior politician has visited Ashaiman and specifically reached out to the Ewe community,
said Torgbui Aheto Exa III.
We will never forget this visit and this remarkable gesture,
he added.
The Chief humorously referenced former Ugandan President Iddi Amin’s famous statement to the Queen of England, saying,
As Iddi Amin once said, we will retaliate’ by returning the favor of your historic visit,
prompting laughter from the gathering.
He emphasized the significant role the Ewe community plays in Ashaiman’s electoral landscape and commended Dr. Bawumia for his positive campaign conduct. He encouraged the Vice President to continue delivering a message of unity.
In his response, Dr. Bawumia thanked the chiefs and people for their warm welcome, reiterating his commitment to building a unified Ghana with equal opportunities for all, regardless of ethnicity or religion.

Dr. Bawumia affirmed as he outlined his transformational vision and future policies as President.
