The Vice President of Ghana and Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has made a groundbreaking promise to the people of Ghana. Dr. Bawumia announced that under his administration, Ghanaians would be able to own a mobile phone with as little as one or two Ghana cedis.

According to Dr. Bawumia, his government will implement a plan to make mobile phones accessible to all Ghanaians by partnering with phone manufacturers. This initiative will allow citizens to purchase phones on credit and pay in small, manageable instalments of just 1₵ or 2₵ per month.

“We will make mobile phones accessible. My government will partner with phone manufacturers so that Ghanaians can afford them on credit and pay 1 or 2 cedis every month,”

Dr. Bawumia announced, underscoring the importance of digital inclusion in his administration’s agenda.

Dr. Bawumia emphasized that this initiative would significantly enhance access to information and communication technology, bridging the digital divide and empowering more Ghanaians to participate in the digital economy. The plan is part of a broader strategy to improve the technological landscape and foster economic growth.

“Access to smartphones is no longer a luxury but a necessity. It opens up opportunities for education, business, and staying connected with loved ones. By making smartphones affordable, we are not only enhancing connectivity but also fostering an environment where every Ghanaian can thrive in the digital age,”

Dr. Bawumia added.

This promise has the potential to revolutionize the way Ghanaians interact with technology, providing them with the tools needed to improve their lives and contribute to the nation’s development. Dr. Bawumia’s bold vision for digital inclusion could transform Ghana’s technological landscape, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital age.
