Vice President and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has disclosed that the Ghana Card has aided in the increased proportion of individuals with Tax Identity.
Speaking at the launch of the LEADing Initiative, he emphasized on the importance of digitalization indicating that the Ghana Card which was an initiative born out of digitalization has really done a lot since it implementation, and Ghanaians are benefiting from this initiative. He mentioned that, so far the digitalization policies are paying off as it has become evident that it is really improving and transforming majority of the sectors in the country.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted that, digitalizing the tax system with the Ghana Card has led to a massive increase with regards to individuals with Tax Identity.
When we digitalized and gave everyone a Ghana Card and made the decision to make the Ghana Card Tax Identification Number, we increased the proportion of individuals with Tax ID, the number moved from 4% to 85%.
He also has stressed on the importance of digitalization towards developing and transforming the country and believes the only way forward is through digitalization.
It was refreshing to note that one of the key components of LEADing Justice, is digitalization, which is crucial to the advancement of the Judicial system and the delivery of justice in Ghana.
