Vice President and Flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed that the right investment will make Ghana a pharmaceutical hub in West Africa.
In an engagement with stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Bawumia noted that transmogrifying the pharmaceutical industry will give birth to immense growth and development in Ghana and such a proper strategy and financing in the industry will really benefit the country and that is why his government will come up with great policies to ensure Ghana become the core country in West Africa with regards to pharmaceuticals.
Transforming the industry and making Ghana a pharmaceutical hub in West Africa to start with, will be of enormous benefits to Ghana, and the Dr. Bawumia’s government, by the grace of God, will focus on that.
He also mentioned that his government will be systematic with regards to strategies for the pharmaceutical industry and will put mechanisms in place to come up with scholarship initiatives to aid pharmacy specialization.
My government will be deliberate in policies about the pharmaceutical sector and will provide scholarships for pharmacy specialization.
Dr. Bawumia also stated that over the years scholarship have been awarded to all kinds of subjects that are not even relevant and such as his government will review those issues and make sure scholarships are awarded to relevant subject and areas like the pharmacy, because they play an integral role in pushing and developing the country.
We have given scholarships to all sort of subjects that we don’t really have the skill need for and we need to relook at that. Pharmacists and the specialization is a number one skills, let us get some more scholarships for the pharmacists and we will get it done.
He assured the Pharmaceutical Industry that his government have great policies that will transform, develop and grow the industry immensely. He mentioned that they will play an important role in his government as he seeks to develop and grow the economy.
