Western Regional House of Chiefs has praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his respectful attitude towards traditional authorities.
As part of his regional campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia engages with traditional authorities and various stakeholders.
During a meeting in Takoradi on Thursday, he shared his vision and listened to concerns from the Western Regional House of Chiefs as he ramps up his campaign for the December elections.
The acting President of the Western Regional House Chiefs, speaking on behalf of the House, commended Dr. Bawumia’s humility and respect for traditional authority.

Dr. Bawumia pledged to amend the Chieftaincy Act to restore the power of traditional leaders.
He explained that traditional rulers seem excluded from the governance system. Restoring their authority, particularly in handling local judicial matters, will not only increase respect for the Chieftaincy institution but also alleviate the backlog of local disputes in the courts.
The Vice President also emphasized that his government would establish a fund to develop the chieftaincy institution.
