The President of the Republic, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has approved the resignation of Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, with effect from Thursday, July 18, 2024.
Dr. Prempeh cited the reason for his resignation in a letter dated July 11, 2024, stating that he needs to vacate his position in order to focus on his new role and duties as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party.
I have come to the difficult decision to step down from my role in order to concentrate on the new role and honor bestowed on me.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have served as both Minister for Education and Minister for Energy.
A response letter from the President said;
In the circumstances I accept your resignation as I know that you are going to play another vital role in the fortunes of our party, the New Patriotic Party.
I want to express my profound gratitude and appreciation for the exemplary work you have done in my government both as Minister for Education and Minister for Energy. I wish you God’s blessings in all your future endeavors.
